Jan en die boontjierank/ Jack and the beanstalk

Our next short theme will be Jack and the beanstalk.

Most of us know this classic story so it might be easier to relate to the vocabulary.

Below are the steps I suggest in order to get the most from this lesson:

  1. Get a copy of the planned story in Afrikaans and English. If you are able to get the movie in Afrikaans and English it is even better.
  2. Watch the movie in Afrikaans and English and read the story in Afrikaans and English.
  3. Identify some new words (vocabulary) and find the meanings of the words.
  4. Draw pictures and descriptions about the story to assess understanding of the story.
  5. Write a comprehension test to make sure you understand.

Enjoy and be amazed how many new words your child has learned.

I will be posting my version of Jack and the Beanstalk in Afrikaans and English very soon.

Have a great day!

Never heard this version. Like this more than the one I know – no violence. What a change.

    1. It’s an end I made up. I also didn’t like the violence.
